The Founder and Leader of Life Assembly Worship Center Rev Christian Kwabena Andrews is urging the ruling New Patriotic Party administration to convert all prison sentences into mass food production in the country.
He said all persons convicted to serve various degree of sentences in prison across the country should be given a specific number of maize or rice to produce within the period the said convict should be spent in prison saying the country ought to benefit from them.
The Rev Minister was quick to add that, convicts with high degree felony like murder and the likes should not be allowed to be served in this kind of sentences.
According to him, those with murder cases and other highly criminal offenses should still have their sentences served behind bars due to the sensitivity of their cases.
Speaking to press yesterday after Sunday church service, the outspoken Rev Minister who is found of taken part of national discourse in recent times, Rev Christian Kwabena Andrews popularly known as sofokyiriabosom, noted all prison yards across the country are arguably full to their capacities and the country needs to benefit from them saying most Chinese nationals sent in by the Chinese government are prisoners.
By dint of that, Rev. Kyiriabosom therefore uunderscored the need for the Ghanaian government to adopt the same strategy by way of sending prisoners to state farms on daily bases working to serve their sentence at this time the youths of this great nation are not willing to go into farming.
He said the policy would go a long way to ensure food all year round and the produce of these state plantations could be relied on to support the ongoing school feeding program.
