The chief of Ashalaja Alhaji Yusif Tahirl has disclosed that, 50% of his people are blind due to the unhygienic water they drink.
Ashalaja is a community in the Ga South municipality of Greater Accra with a population of 20,000 people but lack access to portable water .
He made this disclosure during a health screening exercise he organised at Ashalaja today.
Alhaji Yusif explained that, water is life but all effort made at the municipality to have access to portable water was to no avail.
The chief has therefore call on the government, NGOs and individuals to come to their aid as the lives of people at Ashalaja is at stake.
