The petition by the said Kwame Bright as is popularly known in the town would have been treated with the contempt it deserves, but for involving Kwabeng in his vituperations against Mr. Akomaning Asamoah. As concerned citizens of Kwabeng, we have called this Press briefing to debunk the numerous fallacies and inaccuracies in the presentation of Kwame Bright (as he is known by all) against Akomaning Asamoah in his quest to lead the District as the Chief Executive.
Kwame Bright is by his own figment of imagination ascribed to himself the title of Nana. Aside the title, he does not represent Kwabeng in any capacity as a sub-chief but does so probably for his family which he is entitled to do. Kwabeng challenges him to prove his assumed title of Nana, by engaging the Kwabeng Community to a durbar or forum as soon as practicable if he only has the clout. He is a roadside Nana to say the least. The acquisition of what in the Akan parlance is described as *(NKAPO)* and siting under an umbrella is but the preserve of any ordinary person who decides to invest in such “huhudious venture” of self-aggrandizement (apologies to Prof. Kojo Yankah).
Besides, such titles are attained by commendations from a King on a throne and here too Kwame Bright is challenged to name the king who conferred that title on him.
Granted without admitting that a supposed King or Chief bestowed it on him, then it follows that, he derived his authority from the King and that if he does not know, he must be made aware that, on the demise of the said King, the authority is gone.
When the former President His Excellency John Mahama left the scene, he did it with his ministers because they derived their authority from his mandate, but the MPs who were elected still remained, because they derive their mandate as MPs from the electorates.

*CORRUPTION*
Kwame Bright’s imputation of corruption against Akomaning Asamoah during his tenure of office at the Atiwa Rural Bank is a means he has decided to settle scores with the aspirant. The Rural Bank would not condone crime and some workers found culpable of any malfeasance at the Bank were put on trial at the High Court. Akomaning Asamoah is not included in the lot. It was during the tenure of office as the Board Chairman of Atiwa Rural Bank that the bank acquired a building at Koforidua at a cost of Four Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis GHC400,000.00 which is being currently renovated for banking activities. Then also the Atiwa Rural Bank acquired a Twenty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢25,000.00) property which is now being used as staff quarters. Finally it was during his tenure of office that the bank’s operations were computerized thereby exposing the miscreants who were involved in the financial malfeasance at the bank. He served the bank as a Board member in 1991 and in 2005 became the chairman. He continued in this capacity until he resigned in 2010.
*CHIEFTAINCY*
Any responsible person cannot shirk his responsibility to the family in his private capacity. It would therefore not have been out of order, for Hon. Attah Akyea being a royal of blue blood to the Okyenhene’s throne to lend his support to the throne in his private capacity. Should he do so, it cannot be held against him and thus use same as to stop him from becoming a Minister of State. But on the other hand Hon. Attah Akyea could be held accountable should he after becoming a Minister of State, be seen to be influencing decisions of the throne by virtue of his position as a Minister of State. Akomaning Asamoah was and is still a private individual and will not join forces with any faction of any chieftaincy dispute across the district on assumption of power as the DCE of Atiwa District.
*CHAIRMANSHIP*
Kwabeng is disgusted to the core on how Kwame Bright could descend so low to despicably disgrace Akomaning Asamoah as to describe him as a thief. In boxing, such an act could be equaled to hitting below the belt and thus loosing precious points build up. The corn mill in question is right now sitting in the shop of one Madam Afrakoma a party activist Akomaning Asamoah cannot sink so low to engage in stealing. It is on record that there are only two NPP chairmen during his tenure of office who did not sell their corn mills. A sign of faithfulness.
*DRUNKENNESS*
Akomaning Asamoah after completing Asuom Secondary School, continued at the then Institute of Professional Studies in Accra. He later graduated at the UCC and is currently left with the defense of his theses in pursuant of a Master’s Degree at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology– Kumasi.
Apart from the numerous seminars and workshops all towards capacity building, Akomaning Asamoah is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing as well as the Institute of Internal Auditors. He is currently the *Zonal Audit Manager of the Forestry Department in charge of Ashanti Region*.
Politically, Akomaning Asamoah was in 2004 the 1st Vice Chairman of the NPP in the District when it consisted of only one constituency. He became the substantive Chairman between 2004 and 2009. He has since 2004 to date been the Party’s collation officer. He was the trainer for polling agents besides being the Party’s Election Coordinator in the last elections. As the party’s election coordinator, the Atiwa West constituency chalked a remarkable *80.16%* to place second in the Eastern Region. A citation attesting to his leadership prowess is attached for ease of reference. Wherein lie the disunity that Kwame Bright is alluding to that has beset the party.
*Lastly Akomaning Asamoah is the NPP’s Representative on the District Inter Party Advisory Committee for Atiwa West.*
To quote Kwame Bright, here is what he has to say about Akomaning Asamoah in terms of drinking. “Mr. Akomaning Asamoah is addicted to alcoholism. On countless times, Mr. Asamoah has been picked from gutters while drunk”.
To quote Williams Shakespeare, he said *“oh judgment thou has fled to brutish beasts and men have lost their reasoning”*.
Can a drug addict be entrusted with all these high caliber assignments and yet be able to deliver creditably as Mr. Akomaning Asamoah has done. Can the Forestry Commission entrust no less a duty as Zonal Audit Manager to a drug addict, someone who as Kwame Bright will make the whole Nation accept that on countless occasions been picked up from the gutters drunk. Even though Akomaning Asamoah is not addicted to drinking, it would have been a clear indictment on the integrity of the management of the Forestry Commission if it were to be so.
*HON. ATTA TWUM*
Kwame Bright imputes that Akomaning Asamoah is a blood brother of the above immediate past DCE of the Atiwa District and thus must be disqualified. “It is not a dynasty” he opines. George Bush Snr. as a father was president of Almighty USA and his son also became president of the same nation. President Edward Akufo Addo was president of our dear country and his son is the current President of the same mother Ghana. In the same instance President Kuffour and his brother Addo Kuffour were in government at the same time. The case of the Jinapor’s cannot be ignored. Kwame Bright out of sheer bigotry and foolhardiness is claiming that for the mere fact that Akomaning Asamoah and Hon. Atta Twum are cousins the former cannot become the DCE of Atiwa. To him it is not a dynasty. He must therefore be shaken out of his crass ignorance and stupor to render an unqualified apology to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Senior Minister Hon. Osafo Marfo and Hon. Agyei Marfo and the Jinapor brothers for insinuating that the said Honourable members of the society are perpetrating dynasty in the country.
*DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE*
“Has the position of DCE been reduced to this level” Kwame Bright posed this teaser to conclude. Living up to his tag as an individual without scruples of hesitation of mind in uttering despicable words, Kwame Bright has scorned the intelligence of all and sundry who have a hand in the vetting and selection of the four shortlisted candidates.
*On behalf of the District, we the concerned citizens render an unqualified apology to the hierarchy of our great Party the NPP, the MP of Atiwa East Hon. Abena Osei Asare and that of Atiwa West Hon. Amoako Attah a legal brain and together with his colleague MP being corrupt. We implore them to treat Kwame Bright with disdain and consign his petition to the trash can*.
*From the very little that we have presented in defense of Akomaning Asamoah, His Excellency does not have to look above him in the appointment of a DCE for the Atiwa District, because academically he is up to the task and on the political terrain he has no equal among the entire sixteen contestants from both Atiwa East and West let alone the four shortlisted. In terms of service to the party at the grass roots and on the National level Akomaning Asamoah has no peer among the contestants most of whom can be described as diaspora contestants. The President and the NPP would have glossed over meritorious service should Akomaning Asamoah be sidelined in preference of any other contestant for the position of DCE for the Atiwa District.*
